This year’s Congress also provided an opportunity for participants to remember their colleagues - distinguished road engineering experts who have left an indelible mark on the profession. One of them was Dr. Petar Mitrović, a graduate civil engineer.

Following the legacy of knowledge and expertise established by such engineers, new generations continue to emerge. As at the previous Congress, the Serbian Road Society “Via-Vita”, by decision of its Board of Directors, presented special awards to students for the best graduate and master’s theses completed during the preceding period.

The “Radojica Jauković” Award in the field of road design was presented, upon the recommendation of the Department of Roads, Railways and Airports of the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade, to Milica Đurđić for her master’s thesis entitled: “Conceptual Design of the Grade-Separated Interchange ‘Raška–South’ on the ‘Kraljevo–Novi Pazar’ Expressway.”

The “Master Jovanka Đuran” Award for the best graduate thesis in the field of pavement engineering, also upon the recommendation of the Department of Roads, Railways and Airports of the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade, was awarded to Anđelija Pavlović for her thesis entitled: “The Use of Geosynthetics in the Construction of Transport Infrastructure on Weak Subgrade Soils.”

Based on the recommendation of the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering in Belgrade, the award “Professor Dr. Ljubiša Kuzović” for the best master’s thesis in the field of traffic engineering was presented to Tijana Filić for her work entitled: “The Impact of Congestion Charging on Changes in Travel Behavior: The Case of the City of Niš.”
